TutorGrid is a software platform that enables independent tutors to manage their bookings, students, and payments. TutorGrid is not a tutoring agency and does not employ tutors. The contractual relationship for tuition is solely between the tutor and their student.
TutorGrid charges a platform fee of 10% on each lesson payment, deducted at source via Stripe Connect. You receive the lesson amount minus the platform fee and Stripe's payment processing fee (typically 1.4% + 20p for European cards).
Payouts are governed by your Stripe Connect agreement. TutorGrid does not hold your funds.
Tutors set their own cancellation policy and are responsible for issuing refunds to students where appropriate. TutorGrid will automatically cancel and void any lesson that remains in “pending payment” status for more than 24 hours.
Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013: New tutor accounts have a 14-day right to cancel their use of TutorGrid as a digital service. This right is waived once you begin using the service (e.g. creating a booking). To exercise this right, email support@tutorgrid.app.
TutorGrid requires tutors who work with under-18s to self-declare a valid Enhanced DBS certificate. We do not independently verify DBS certificates. Parents and guardians are encouraged to ask tutors directly for evidence of their DBS check before commencing tuition.
TutorGrid provides the platform “as is” and to the extent permitted by law:
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
You must not use TutorGrid to engage in unlawful activity, spam students, misrepresent your identity or qualifications, or circumvent platform fees by directing students to pay outside the platform.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
We will give at least 14 days' notice of material changes to these terms by email. Continued use of TutorGrid after that period constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
